TAYLOR: IT'S TIME FOR 11 FITNESS, JOINING US THIS MORNING, TRAINER SONRISA MEDINA. GOOD MORNING. >> HOW ARE YOU? TAYLOR: GOOD. IT'S A RAINY MORNING. A LOT OF PEOPLE NEED A PICK ME UP. WE'RE TALKING ABOUT ANYTHING WE CAN DO AT HOME AND ALSO YOU'RE TALKING ABOUT ROUNDED SHOULDERS? >> ROUNDED SHOULDERS AND POSTURE. TAYLOR: SOME PEOPLE WORK NICELY ON A WINTER MORNING THAT'S RAINY OUTSIDE. >> WE SAY POSTURE. EVERYBODY LISTENING SAT UP TALLER. ONE OF THE THINGS ABOUT ROUNDED SHOULDERS IS THAT SHOULDER COMES FORWARD, THIS IS A LOT O SITTED SITTING AT THE DESK, DRIVING, TEXTING. EVERYTHING IS IN THE ROUNDED SPINE POSITION, WHICH CAN LEAD TO A LOT OF PROBLEMS IN OUR LOWER BACK, IN OUR HIPS. BUT AT THE END OF THE DAY, IT ALSO ADDS TEN POUNDS TO US AND MAKES US LOOK TEN YEARS OLDER JUST BY WALKING IN LIKE THIS, WITH THE POOCH AND EVERYTHING, RIGHT? CRINGE-WORTHY. BEING ABLE TO STAND UP NICE AND TALL. IF YOU WANTED TO GO AHEAD AND FOCUS ON POSTURE, MOST IMPORTANTLY WITH THE ROUNDED SHOULDERS, YOU WANT TO TURN THE PALMS FORWARD. FEEL HOW THAT ROTATES THE SHOULDER INTO PLACE LIKE THERE AND ALLOWS YOU TO FEEL WHERE YOU SHOULD BE WITH THAT. IF YOU'VE GOT ROUNDED SHOULDERS, THE THUMBS ARE POINTING TOWARD EACH OTHER. REALLY TRY TO OPEN THAT CHEST UP AS MUCH AS POSSIBLE. TAYLOR: OKAY. >> I TALK ABOUT THE LADIES WILL UNDERSTAND, IF YOU HAVE A NEW NECKLACE TO SHOW OFF. OPENING THE CHEST UP A LITTLE BIT. IN ORDER TO GET A LITTLE BIT OF STRETCH, THAT ROUNDED SHOULDER COMES FROM A TIGHTNESS IN THE CHEST AND A WEAKNESS IN THE BACK. SO YOU WANT TO ADDRESS BOTH. SO WITH THIS TOWEL, I HAVE AN OPPORTUNITY TO OPEN THE CHEST AND STRETCH IT ALL THE WAY OUT, KEEPING THOSE ARMS NICE AND LONG, WRISTS ARE STRAIGHT. CAN FEEL THIS NOW. AND OPENING ALL THE WAY UP WITH THE CHEST. STANDING NICE AND TALL THERE. I CAN DO IT WITH A FOAM ROLLER. OPENING THE CHEST UP A LITTLE BIT MORE. I WOULD LAY THE FOAM ROLLER DOWN AND SIT ON THE FOAM ROLLER AND HAVE IT RIGHT ON MY SPINE. BY DOING THA IT ALLOWS THE CHEST TO OPEN MORE AND I CAN GO AHEAD AND OPEN UP EVEN MORE INTO THAT CHEST HERE. TAYLOR: I HAVE ALWAYS THOUGHT FOAM ROLLING WAS A WAY OF FOAM ROLLING SOME OF OUR MUSCLES. I NEVER THOUGHT ABOUT DOING THAT. >> IT OPENS THE CHEST NICELY. A LOT OF PEOPLE HAVE A FOAM ROLLING. WHEN I ASK THEM IF THEY FOAM ROLL, THEY SAY I HAVE ONE, IT'S IN THE CLOSET. PULL IT OUT TODAY. YOU'RE NOT GOING OUTSIDE TO RUN. PULL THE FOAM ROLLER OUT AND OPEN UP THE CHEST. TAYLOR: YOU CAN EASILY DO ALL THIS AT HOME. >> ABSOLUTELY. A LOT OF GREAT EXERCISES TO GET THE CHEST NICE AND TALL
