Bellevue Cyclist Seriously Injured In Collision With SUV

The teen was riding her bike in the Factoria neighborhood when she collided with a driver in an SUV.

BELLEVUE, WA - A Bellevue teen was seriously injured while riding her bike Monday morning when the driver of an SUV hit her.

The collision happened around 7:30 a.m. near the intersection of Southeast Newport Way and 129th Place Southeast, which is in the Factoria area.

Bellevue police did not immediately say how the crash occurred. The 17-year-old was taken to Harborview Medical Center in Seattle for treatment of "life-threatening" injuries.

Police are still investigating the circumstances of the crash, but said the 48-year-old driver was being cooperative.

There are bike lanes in the area near the crash, but they are intermittent. The westbound bike lane along Newport Way ends west of 129th Place.
