Texas State University held a ribbon-cutting ceremony Oct. 6 for a 81,000-square-foot, $62.5 million expansion of the University Events Center and Strahan Arena at 700 Aquarena Springs Drive, San Marcos.

Designed by the national architecture firm Sinks Combs Dethlefs, the addition provides 1,800 more seats to the arena as well as expanded locker rooms, offices and support spaces.

Texas State needs a larger-capacity space to accommodate a steadily increasing student population, the school said in a statement.
