Wild horses and burros from public ranges in northeast California and northern Nevada will be available for public adoption April 25 and 26, at the Lake County Fairgrounds in Lakeport.

The Bureau of Land Management will offer 30 mustangs and 10 burros, all certified healthy and ready to train. The BLM will also offer two 2-year-old halter-trained fillies trained from the Rio Cosumnes Correctional Center wild horse training program near Sacramento.

The event is open 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. each day. Adoptions get underway with silent bidding 9-10 a.m. April 25. Animals not taken during bidding will be available for a $125 fee for the remainder of the weekend.

A preview will be held 4-6 p.m. Friday.
