Centenary University Selects Garwood Resident as Equine Student of the Semester

Recent graduate Lindsay O’Donnell lauded for excellence in equine studies

Centenary University has named Lindsay O’Donnell of Garwood as Equine Student of the Semester, an honor that recognizes her exceptional work ethic in her studies and at the University’s Equestrian Center. O’Donnell earned a bachelor’s degree in equine studies at Centenary’s 143rd commencement on May 12.

As a Centenary undergraduate, O’Donnell worked at the university as a veterinary work-study student and volunteer assisting with veterinary treatments, faculty research and projects. She also joined the Hunter/Jumper Team and showed Centenary horses in local competitions rated by the U.S. Equestrian Federation. Centenary University has been named in the top 20 for Best Equestrian Colleges in the nation by Thoughtco.com.

“In the barn, Lindsay is far more than an exemplary student employee,” said Jesslyn Bryk-Lucy, D.V.M., assistant professor of equine studies and the university’s resident veterinarian. “She takes the initiative and is proactive in her work. Her attitude and work ethic set an excellent example for her peers, and are an inspiration to Centenary’s faculty and staff.”

O’Donnell was one of 577 graduates to receive their degrees at Centenary’s recent commencement. During the ceremony, the university conferred 22 associate degrees, 373 bachelor’s degrees and 182 master’s degrees.
