"I don't feel like doing funny movies anymore, I don't feel funny." Paramount has debuted the first trailer for Chris Rock's new movie Top Five, starring, written and directed by Chris Rock, making a comeback after a few years of being out of the spotlight. The indie production premiered at the Toronto Film Festival last month and was quickly acquired by Paramount, and quickly turned around for release this December. This is only the first trailer but honestly it's a bit hard to follow, is this Rock playing himself or something else? Rosario Dawson is another lead star, along with a big cast including Kevin Hart, Adam Sandler, Romany Malco, J.B. Smoove and Whoopi Goldberg. The film earned great reviews out of TIFF. Enjoy
Here's the first official trailer for Chris Rock's new movie Top Five, direct from the film's YouTube:
Via TIFF: Written, directed by & starring Chris Rock, Top Five tells the story of New York City comedian-turned-film star Andre Allen, whose unexpected encounter with a journalist forces him to confront both the career that made him famous and the life he left behind. Starring Chris Rock, Rosario Dawson, Gabrielle Union, Kevin Hart, Tracy Morgan, Cedric the Entertainer, J.B. Smoove, Sherri Shepherd, Anders Holm, Romany Malco, Leslie Jones, Michael Che and Jay Pharoah. Quite a cast. The film first premiered at the Toronto Film Festival this fall, and was picked up quickly by Paramount Pictures. They're releasing Top Five in limited theaters starting December 5th limited, nationwide on the 12th. For more visit the official site.

I've never been much of a Chris Rock fan but this trailer made me laugh a couple of times. More than most contemporary comedies. Here's to some funny parts that hopefully weren't included in the trailer.

Damn. Live from NY .... the black cast of Saturday Night Live (minus Zasheer and Garrett. I think.) But I'm so in.... you know I was dying to see this Alex... so good on ya. The jokes hit hard.... it feels smart as hell... and if 'Dear White People' is as good as this vibe.... this is going to be a great fall for diversity in film.
