Harry Allen Madge, Ex-Freehold Twp School Board Member, Was 94

He also was a dairy farmer, learning from his grandfather and father and passiing it to his son and grandsons.

FREEHOLD TOWNSHIP, NJ — Harry Allen Madge, a longtime dairy farmer and grounds maintenance manager for the Freehold Township Board of Education, died Monday at home in the township. He was 94, according to his obituary from Clayton & McGirr Funeral Home.

A true farmer at heart, Allen worked side-by-side with his grandfather and father on their dairy farm and continued to farm with his son and grandsons until his retirement. Allen, who was a lifelong resident of Freehold Township, was a member of the Board of Education for the township for many years.

Allen was a member of the Olive Branch Masonic Lodge No. 16, the Scottish Rite, and the Shriners International. He also was a lifelong member and trustee at Bethesda United Methodist Church in Adelphia.

Allen was predeceased by his brother, Arthur Madge, and sister, Elizabeth Debreceni. He is survived by his wife of 70 years, Margaret Madge of Freehold Township; children, Nancy Madge-Harrington and her husband, Michael, of Millington, MD; Darlene Rizzo and her husband, Anthony, of Freehold Township; and Kenneth Madge and his wife, Debbie, of Freehold Township; six grandchildren, Melissa Loller and her husband, Brad, of Worton, MD; Christopher Rizzo of Freehold Township; Ashley Rizzo of Freehold Township; John Madge of Freehold Township; Kenneth Madge Jr. of Howell, and Elizabeth Madge of Freehold Township; three great grandchildren, Brayden, Nathan, and Adam; a sister, Arlene Buscaglia and her husband, Charles, of Freehold Township; and many nieces and nephews.

A visitation will be held at the Clayton & McGirr Funeral Home, 100 Elton-Adelphia Road (Route 524), Freehold Township on Wednesday, Sept. 26, 2018 from 2 p.m to to 4 p.m. and 7 p.m. to 9 p.m. Relatives and friends are invited to attend his 11 a.m. funeral service on Thursday, Sept. 27, 2018 at the funeral home. Interment will follow in Maplewood Cemetery, Freehold Township.
