Washington Redskins Offensive Tackle Prospects for the 2018 NFL Draft

Joe Robbins/Getty Images

There are very few drafts that don’t have at least one dominant offensive tackle prospect. This draft is one of those rare instances. However there are a few players who will be picked in the late first or early second round. After those few, there is a huge drop off and very few players who aren’t projects or better off at guard or even center.

Good news for the Redskins is that they have two quality starting tackles and a good reserve tackle. They don’t need to draft a tackle this year but may want to add a project in the seventh round. Or, better yet, as an UDFA.

*Most of my comments on these players will be short or not there at all. I want to finish this quick so I can get the interior linemen post out today.

1. Kolton Miller, California Los Angeles

6’9", 309lbs, 34" arms, 10.75" hands, 4.95 40yd, talent level-1st round, draft projection-1st round

Miller ran very well at the combine & looked athletic in his workouts. It was very close between the top three tackles.

2. Brian O’Neill, Pittsburgh

6’6", 296lbs, 34.13" arms, 9.38" hands, 4.82 40yd, talent-1st, Draft-1st-2nd

O’Neill is a converted tight end and needs more development at tackle. He may or may not start immediately as he needs to add bulk and muscle. In a few years, O’Neill could be the best of this class. He is extremely athletic for a tackle.

3. Mike McGlinchey, Notre Dame

6’7", 309lbs, 34" arms, 10" hands, 5.10 40yd, talent-1st, Draft-1st

McGlinchey had a few struggles in pass protection which is why he is third on this list. He might be better at right tackle where his very good run blocking will stand out.

4. Orlando Brown, Oklahoma

6’8", 345lbs, 35" arms, 9.75" hands, 5.85 40yd, talent-2nd-3rd, Draft-2nd-3rd

Brown had a well publicized bad combine. He improved most of those numbers at his Pro day. Brown looked dominant at times on film but also has a tendency to bend at the waist too much and let speed rushers around the edge. He will probably be a right tackle. He is a very good run blocker.

5. Connor Williams, Texas

6’5", 296lbs, 33" arms, 10.5" hands, 5.05 40yd, talent-2nd-3rd, Draft-2nd-3rd

Williams will probably end up at guard in the NFL. He didn’t struggle much on film but his size points to a potential move. He is a good athlete.

6. Chukwuma Okorafor, Western Michigan

6’6", 320lbs, 34.5" arms, 10.25" hands, talent-3rd, Draft-3rd-4th

Okorafor has good size and length to play left tackle. His level of competition was a bit lower than others and he may take a year or two to be ready to start.

7. Martinas Rankin, Mississippi

6’4", 308lbs, 33.75" arms, 5.20 40yd, talent-3rd-4th, Draft-3rd-4th

Rankin’s size may get him moved inside to guard or center.

8. Geron Christian, Louisville

6’5", 298lbs, 35" arms, 10.75" hands, 5.33 40yd, talent-3rd-4th, Draft-3rd-4th

Christian needs to add bulk.

9. Joe Noteboom, Texas Christian

6’5", 306lbs, 34.38" arms, 9.63" hands, 4.96 40yd, talent-3rd-4th, Draft-3rd-4th

Noteboom has good athleticism and size. He needs to add muscle.

10. Jamarco Jones, Ohio State

6’4", 299lbs, 35.13" arms, 9.5" hands, 5.50 40yd, talent-4th-5th, Draft-4th-5th

Jones has good length but is slow.

11. Tyrell Crosby, Oregon

6’4", 319lbs, 34" arms, 10.88" hands, 5.23 40yd, talent-4th-5th, Draft-3rd-5th

Crosby could move inside to guard.

12. Will Richardson, North Carolina State

6’6", 306lbs, 35.25" arms, 9.88" hands, 5.22 40yd, talent-5th-6th, Draft-4th-6th

Richardson has good length but didn’t look as good on film.

13. Brandon Parker, North Carolina A & T

6’7", 303lbs, 35.88" arms, 9.63" hands, 5.37 40yd, talent-5th-7th, Draft-4th-7th

Parker is a project with good height and length.

14. Desmond Harrison, West Georgia

6’6", 292lbs, 34.75" arms, 10.5" hands, 4.90 40yd, talent-5th-7th, Draft-4th-7th

Harrison is an athletic project with good length.

15. Alex Cappa, Humbolt State

6’5", 299lbs, 33.13" arms, 9.13" hands, 5.39 40yd, talent-6th-7th, Draft-5th-7th

Cappa could move inside to guard.

16. Toby Weathersby, Louisiana State

6’7", 302lbs, 33.75" arms, 10.25" hands, 5.34 40yd, talent-6th-7th, Draft-6th-7th

Right tackle at LSU.

17. David Bright, Stanford

6’5", 299lbs, 32.25" arms, 10" hands, 5.32 40yd, talent-6th-7th, Draft-6th-7th

Bright is undersized and will likely move to guard.

18. Ike Boettger, Iowa

6’6", 307lbs, 33.13" arms, 9.88" hands, 5.09 40yd, talent-6th-7th, Draft-6th-7th

Boettger could be a good guard.

19. Zachary Crabtree, Oklahoma State

6’6", 313lbs, 34.13" arms, 9.13" hands, 5.35 40yd, talent-7th-UDFA, Draft-UDFA

Decent size.

20. Korey Cunningham, Cincinnati

6’5", 311lbs, 33.38" arms, 9.38" hands, 5.30 40yd, talent-7th-UDFA, Draft-6th-UDFA

21. Cole Madison, Washington State

6’5", 307lbs, 33.75" arms, 10.38" hands, 5.34 40yd, talent-7th-UDFA, Draft-6th-UDFA

22. Brett Toth, Army

6’5", 303lbs, 33"arms, 10.13" hands, 5.09 40yd, talent-5th-7th, Draft-6th-UDFA

23. Nick Gates, Nebraska

6’5", 307lbs, 32" arms, 10.25" hands, 5.46 40yd, talent-7th-UDFA, Draft-6th-UDFA

24. Rick Leonard, Florida State

6’7", 306lbs, 32.25" arms, 9.25" hands, 5.15 40yd, talent-UDFA, Draft-7th-UDFA

25. K.J. Malone, Louisiana State

6’4", 303lbs, 33.5" arms, 9.25" hands, 5.30 40yd, talent-UDFA, Draft-7th-UDFA
