Iris Nell Jones

Iris Nell (Miller) Jones, 88, of Searcy Arkansas, went home to heaven on Monday, June 11, 2018, surrounded by her family. Iris was born July 1, 1929, in Samburg, Tennessee. She met Wyatt Jones and they married in 1952. They celebrated 64 years of marriage before his death in 2016. After moving from Tennessee, the couple settled in Alabama while Wyatt achieved his Doctorate degree and they then moved to California. During this time, Iris and Wyatt had three children. In 1975, the family moved to Searcy, Arkansas. Iris held several jobs but her most important one was as domestic engineer, taking care of her family. She also enjoyed traveling the world and spent time living in Germany, Italy, Greece, and Australia. She loved her circle of family and friends and spent much of her time entertaining them. She was always known to be a fabulous cook. Iris also enjoyed gardening, growing delicious fresh produce and beautiful flowers. She served as President of the Garden Club of Searcy, Arkansas, and also served with Harding Women's Association. Iris's church family at West Side Church of Christ in Searcy was also an important part of her life. Iris worked with her church as a women's and children's bible teacher and was a faithful worshiper. Iris was preceded in death by her husband, Dr. Wyatt Jones. She is survived by her daughter, Karen (Jones) Post and her husband Wayne T. Post of Plainview, Texas; son, Philip Jones of Smyrna, Galif.; and son, Kevin Jones and wife Dr. Karen Smits of Vinings, Galif.; four grandchildren, Kimberly (Post) Davey and her husband Lee Davey; Michael Post and his wife Mandi; Steven Post and his wife Michelle; and Dylan Jones; and five great grandchildren, Ashlynn and Madeline Davey; Colt and Cade Post; and Lorelei Post. Visitation will be Friday from 6 to 8 p.m. at the Powell Funeral Home of Searcy. Funeral services will be Saturday at 11 a.m. at the West Side church of Christ.
