Papoose was already over the moon happy for Remy Ma after the “shETHER” rapper was hailed as Woman of the Year at The Glitz & Girl Power Awards 2017 on Sunday night. However, the “Alphabetical Slaughter” rapper became even more happy when famous R&B singer Betty Wright recognized his work as an artist at the event.

On Monday, Papoose shared on Instagram a video clip of Wright’s acceptance speech at the event. The “Love & Hip Hop: New York” star was apparently moved by the fact that the “Tonight is the Night” hitmaker recognized him as an artist and also lauded his patience for sticking with Remy Ma despite the latter’s time in jail.

In the caption, Papoose mostly talked about the influence of Wright’s music on him and his family. Then, he continued by detailing how he was moved by Wright’s gesture at the awards event. “In the process of accepting her award I couldn’t believe she took out the time to acknowledge me not only as a person but as a [sic] artist,” he wrote. “A lot of people say I’m underrated but as long as I receive acknowledgement/praise from people of her caliber, it’s worth way more than any outlook from this political industry we exist in.”

Wrapping up his lengthy post, Papoose maintained that it means so much to him that a living legend like Wright respects his craft. “Y’all keep pretending y’all don’t see this talent & I’ll continue to be respected amongst the #livinglegends.”

Many of Papoose’s fans quickly lauded the rapper-songwriter. One fan wrote: “Wow Pap that’s an honor. She’s a legend. You deserve it brother. You are a phenomenal MC definitely underrated … but keep doing what you do.” Another commented: “Yes Pap PREACH!!!!!!!!! Trust me many of us know how talented and extremely underrated you are, but we also know why … becuz [sic] you refuse to sell out. And that in itself speaks of the type of person you are.”

In a follow-up post, Papoose shared a snap of him posing for the camera in his all-white ensemble at the event. He then shared a strong message about failure and success in the caption. “Failure will never overtake me if my determination to succeed is strong enough,” he wrote.

Meanwhile, Wright continued to rave about Papoose and Remy Ma on her own Instagram account. The 63-year-old singer uploaded some snaps of her and the couple at the event. Wright even pointed out in one post that what Papoose and Remy Ma have is “real black love.”
