1610: Good luck to Richard, Matt and everyone over at the Breeders' Cup. Hope you find winners too. Been a good afternoon - here's to a great evening.

1605: Right team that's me for the day. You won't have to wait long for Matt Brocklebank to stir from his beachside appartment (true) in California and steer you through a fascinating night at the Breeders' Cup. I have one wish - that's all - Ribchester to win the Mile.

One thing is for sure - Richard Fahey won't be spending too long on riding instructions to William Buick.

Richard Fahey Ribchester

1603: Let's end with the words of a winner - no not David Ord - but Nigel Twiston-Davies following his Charlie Hall one-two.

He said: "Bristol De Mai doesn't turn seven for a few weeks so he should be coming into his own this season, which is amazing given what he has already achieved. It will be the Betfair (Chase, Haydock) next for him. He should get his soft ground and he likes it there. He was always travelling and I was just very happy with him.

"Blaklion pleased me, too. He was getting 6lb so the handicapper shouldn't be putting him up. That should leave him spot-on for the Becher Chase (Aintree)."

On winning a record fifth Charlie Hall, the Naunton handler said: "It's the first major race of the season so you can target it a long way out - it's not a prep race."

1555: Impressive performance from Go Conquer in the feature Sodexo Gold Cup at Ascot. Courtesy of the ITV twitter account you can see what I'm talking about.

1550: Team Cue Card now: Colin Tizzard: "He's OK, that's the main thing, and so is Paddy (Brennan). He moved upsides just as the real race was starting and he just got it all wrong, which he has done in the past."

Paddy Brennan added: "He couldn't see the fence. The further he went the better he travelled but early on he wasn't enjoying the ground."

1545: Update on Coneygree from assistant trainer Sarah Bradstock who says: "He simply frightened himself at the ditch. He doesn't do that normally and after that Nico said he was just scared. He pulled him up because he simply wasn't jumping like he normally does and he wasn't going to win.

"He is the best jumper in the world normally so something wasn't right. Thankfully he seems fine, he's got a little cut but nothing serious. Nico said the sun was very bright and it might be that he didn't see the fence.

"We'll go back to the drawing board now and try and get schooling him on the grass. We've only been able to do it on the all-weather up to now."

1535: Well done to our columnist Daryl Jacob - big early winner for him.

1529: Really liked the way Bristol De Mai tanked through that. 3/1 from 5s with Sky Bet for the Betfair Chase - 20s from 40s in the Timico Cheltenham Gold Cup market.

1528: Here's the finish to the Charlie Hall thriller.

1527: Cue Card seemingly none the worse or his fall which is great news.

1524: Wonderful race - hope both Coneygree and Cue Card are ok. If they can keep the wheels on Bristol De Mai he's in for a good season - Blaklion lost nothing in defeat.

1521: A Twiston-Davies one-two - Bristol De Mai fends off Blaklion in a thriller.

1520: Cue Card falls at the final fence down the back straight. Bristol De Mai leads Blaklion turning in.

1518: Coneygree pulled up before fence ten. He'd dropped through the field and didn't look happy after that scare at the ditch.

1517: Coneygree takes off a stride too early at the first ditch. He's exuberant up front.

1515: Proof that Disko won at Down Royal - if you needed it. Impressive too.

1513: Going down at Wetherby.

1512: In all the build-up here easy to miss but Disko goes in at Down Royal.

1511: It doesn't feel right to be deserting Cue Card - especially when you remember him doing this two years ago. Go well old friend.

bet365 Charlie Hall 2015

1510: So it's here - Charlie Hall Chase time. Blaklion for me - on value grounds - ahead of Coneygree. Defnitely Red will run well here too. A cracker.

1503: Elgin your winner. Verdana Blue travels well but after being squeezed out going to the last never and lands a blow. No excuses but there'll be other days for her.

1455: Right time for a raft of Sky Bet ante-post reaction to what we've seen so far.

Born Survivor in at 25s for Arkle & JLT. La Bague Au Roi 25/1 from 33/1 for the David Nicholson Mares Hurdle Colins Sister introduced at 12s into the same race. Outlander now 33/1 Gold Cup and 20/1 Ryanair.

1450: Here's the replay of the feature at Down Royal - you'll need good eyesight to spot the the favourite sadly.

1450: You can't keep a good man down - or me come to that. Verdana Blue next up at Ascot. She'll rescue things.

1446: We have seconditis - and for much of the race Wholestone travelled like the winner - but between the last two Polly's Sister had his legs and it stayed that way despite a brief wobble after the last. The pair were clear.

1440: Right time to roar home Wholestone - the Ord bet of the day.

1438: What do we make of that then...It's a Gigginstown onetwo as Outander (16-1) rallies to overhaul the strong-travelling Road To Respect. Our Duke is beaten a mile out and trails home last, a place behind More Of That who again folded tamely.

1430: Exitas lands a few good bets at Ascot - Calipto barely goes a yard but there'll be other days. Right they're off at Down Royal.

1418: Don't forget the Champion Chase at Down Royal is looming large. Would love to see More Of That start the campaign on the front but let's be fair all eyes are on Sky Bet Price Boost Our Duke. It's ludicrously early but some expect him to lay down a significant Gold Cup marker.

1415: I'm a big fan of Calipto who reappears in the next at Ascot. He's handicapped to win a decent pot right now and should give Bryan Cooper a good spin if fit to do himself justice.

1410: Lady Buttons was the one and looked set to claim a notable scalp but she wanders after the last and full credit to La Bague Au Roi who bravely rallies under a Richard Johnson drive

1402: Daryl Jacob thought Graceful Lady would outrun her odds here - there's each-way money too.

1400: We're getting into the good stuff now. La Bague Au Roi a Sky Bet Price Boost in the olbg.com Mares' Hurdle and an even money shot on the book. I thought she might be opposable but the quest to find one to take her on with was frustrating. Lady Buttons probably the one - but only probably.

1357: Good day for the Moore team at Ascot - Benator wins at 9/2 - impressive too having landed flat footed at the last. Lots to like about that performance.

1345: Before he took to chasing celebs around Del Mar Ollie Bell sat down with Aidan O'Brien to talk all things Breeders' Cup. Good watch this - not that Jack Whitehall wasn't.

Oli Bell interviews Aidan O'Brien

1340: First Ben Linfoot tip of the day coming up - Ballinure at Ascot. He likes these limited handicap chases for novices and the 9/1 about the Henderson charge has gone. 6s as I type and a big run looks on the cards.

1335: In the end at Wetherby - to use a phrase much-coined by one of our leading commentators - Born Survivor is much the best.

1322: Wouldn't even know where to start with the upcoming novice chase at Wetherby. Only our runners but any one of them could win. Here's the racecard and video form.

You're a better man or woman than me if you can come out of the study with a firm view.

1320: My oh my - 16/1 winner - a morning mover, afternoon drifter, but Brown Bear delivers for the excellent Leighton Aspell.

1315: Ascot next - come on Brown Bear for the early value snafflers (of which I wasn't one).

1312: Don't be adding Bold Reason into My Stable just yet...one of the first beaten. Seemed to take longer than the National that HQ heat.

1306: Is that the end of the Shinners/Bell celeb spotting? I'm not ruling out a preview with Beyonce and Jay-Z of the Mile. I hear they're both keen on Ribchester. They may have 99 problems but solving that particular puzzle aint one.

1304: Of all the tweets I was expecting from our team at the Breeders' Cup - this really wasn't one of them.

1302: Honestly I am going to stop mentioning Catching Pigeons soon...but...Bold Reason for team Gosden was one of the best bets of the day in racing's top gossip column. He runs in the next at Newmarket. #justsaying

1259: My my Mark Howard and the market were correct. Kalashnikov hoses in for the Murphy team. Impressive stuff and an exciting prospect.

1254: The excellent Mark Howard very keen on Kalashnikov here on Racing UK.

1253: Tom George has taken his Wetherby runners out, including Double Shuffle in the Charlie Hall. Virgilio also out of our feature. Check out all today's non-runners.

1250: Daryl Jacob really likes Ballymoy who makes his hurdling debut in the next at Wetherby. He was too keen in a bumper at Market Rasen and is going to be jumped out in front here. Along with the well-backed Kalashnikov they represent dangers to the favourite Al Shahir who represents the excellent Skelton team. A watching brief for me.

1245: Looked like American Gigolo was going to deliver for Catching Pigeons - yes that column again - but is readily run own by Dell Oro who looks a good prospect for the Moore team. Desiremoi D'authie is far too keen and pays the price down the straight. Needs to learn to settle.

1243: Of at Ascot and Desiremoi D'authie is leading then a merry dance early.

1240: One of the Haggas team as Perfect Thought strikes at Newmarket - Shrooq a work in progress in fourth. Go on - get her into your My Stable.

1230: I've already called out our excellent Catching Pigeons column and readers of it - and there are plenty - will know it's predicting win number 151 for Jim Crowley in the next at HQ. Shurooq is another Hamdan Al Maktoum runner who didn't live up to expectations on debut but is working very, very well at Kingwood Stables according to our Owen Burrows mole.

1227: It was hard work at Wetherby for most - but Daklonlike is off the mark over fences at the second attempt for David Pipe and Tom Scudamore. Barely came off the bridle. First time cheek pieces - or cheese peaks as a Newmarket trainer once referred to them to me - work the oracle.

1215: Nearly time to get things going at Wetherby. Delgany Demon the one or money - on and off course.

1207: Where's the symbol for chicken dinner? We have a winner. Nawassi does it nicely to give Jim Crowley the 150th winner of a fine season. Plenty of promise in behind from Alizeti under Fran Berry. One for your My Stable trackers there along with Rococo.

1203: Money for both the Gosden fillies at HQ - clearly the Nawassi who they seem on the Limekilns in the early hour is a different beast to the one who rolled up for debut.

1155: Right before we go headlong into the action - here's all Sky Bet's Price Boosts for the day in one place. If you fancy any of them click on the links for enhanced odds.

1:15 Ascot- Bardd
2:05 Wetherby- La Bague Au Roi
2:30 Down Royal- Our Duke
3:20 Ayr- Mount Mews
3:30 Newmarket- Lord Glitters
5:30 Newcastle- Anna Medici

1150: Chris Stickells is back in and the going at Ascot is good. Good clerking that.

1145: Only 20 minutes to the first race of the afternoon at Newmarket. The dogs were barking ahead of Nawassi on her August debut. Fair to say she didn't live up to expectations but expect much more here. There's a good word too for stablemate Rococo. The Gosden pair the ones that interest me here.

1140: Talking of Scoop, he reckons Our Duke is the one for the Cheltenham Gold Cup at this admittedly early stage. He'll be looking for a good reappearance run in the JNwine.com Champion Chase at Down Royal. It's one of the races of the day. I just wonder whether first time out is the time to catch More Of That - although the cliff has long since been scaled by me with Jonjo O'Neill's fragile star.

1130: Great to hear from Jen in BSE - the home of Greene King. She writes: "It has been an interesting flat season but I fear that the Europeans ie the massed legions of the great AP O’Brien will find winners hard to come by tonight. Highland Reel looks the most likely but will he get an easy passage, the home contingent are not averse to roughing up the interlopers. Having said that we should rightly praise the maestro of Ballydoyle on what has been a phenomenal season even by his exulted standards.

"As the jumps season really gets into full swing it is to be hoped that Coneygree returns safe and sound. He has everything in his favour today and he should take the world of beating. It is interesting that Scoop has avoided Wetherby and Del Mar for his selections so it is worth taking note as the boy is on fire."

Lazy for me from Scoop - but to be fair he is in cracking form! Good luck Jen - think Highland Reel will deliver the goods tonight and fingers are firmly crossed that Ribchester can do likewise in the Mile. Would be a fitting finale to a wonderful career for him.

1105: Soft all round at Wetherby following overnight rain. I could have predicted that as it was tipping it down as my prepared my daughter's 4am feed. However mum took over and I slept so there's my early hours weather update - seven hours later.

1100: Three big price winners over the last fortnight for Ben Linfoot's Value Bet column - you'd be mad - mad I say - not to check out this week's offering here. As a teaser one of his best bets is below - but dig deep for the rest.

1040: What a cracking book of rides Daryl Jacob has at Wetherby this afternoon - and you can read his thoughts here.

He's aboard my nap of the day - Wholestone in the Bet365 Hurdle. I thought he ran a cracker on his reappearance at Chepstow when blowing up over an inadequate trip. This looks right up his alley and while he has been bigger, 9/4 to turn over Lil Rockerfeller et all still makes plenty of appeal.

1015: So what do we make of the Bet365 Charlie Hall Chase then? I'm kicking myself for not backing Coneygree at 9/2 with the sponsors when they first went up on Monday. The fact he escapes a penalty and the run at Punchestown two key factors. If he gets into a rhythm round here he's going to take some catching.

I respect Cue Card and Bristol De Mai, no I respect the latter and love the former, and would never draw a line through either but the biggest threat could be Blaklion. I thought I'd ended my Nash drought when he skipped clear four out at Aintree but it wasn't to be. It might be back there in April but before then he looks set to run big here with the Twister team ticking over nicely.

1000: Saturday Kitchen is just coming on...but no artichokes and prunes here. Just the market movers from Sky Bet:

1:45 Newmarket- Roll On Rory 10/1 into 8/1
2:20 Newmarket- Awesometank 11/2 into 4/1
3:30 Newmarket- Oh This Is Us 11/1 into 8/1
4:00 Newmarket- Yellowhammer 7/2 into 9/4 (Extra place race)

12:20 Wetherby- Delgany Demon 8/1 into 4/1
12:55 Wetherby- Kalashnikov 13/2 into 4/1

1:00 Ayr- The Cobbler Swayne 6/1 into 100/30
2:10 Ayr- Little Bruce 16/1 into 11/1
2:45 Ayr- Ubaltique 14/1 into 9/1
3:50 Ayr- Calach 15/2 into 11/2

12:40 Ascot- Notre Ami 11/1 into 8/1
1:15 Ascot- Brown Bear 14/1 into 9/1
2:25 Ascot- Calipto 13/2 into 9/2
3:35 Ascot- Fourth Act 16/1 into 12/1
4:05 Ascot- Nocturnal Myth 7/1 into 4/1

1:55 Down Royal- Crossed My Mind 18/1 into 8/1
4:10 Down Royal- Rapid Escape 5/2 into 10/11

3:55 Newcastle- Move It Move It 11/2 into 7/2
4:30 Newcastle- Manthoor 2/1 into 13/8
6:00 Newcastle- Gun Case 100/30 into 9/4

0930:Ladies and gentlemen we have a buzz horse. We're creating it - but a buzz horse nonetheless. It's Verdana Blue in the 1500 at Ascot. The nap selection in our outstanding Catching Pigeons column - and put up by pro punter Murt Khan too - she'll be carrying the life sheckles this afternoon. She's 6/1 with Sky Bet as I type.

0910: I promise my little jaunts down memory lane will soon shudder to a halt but indulge me first - here, courtesy of You Tube - is Wayward Lad at Wetherby.

1983 Charlie Hall Chase Wayward Lad

0905: While I return the rashers to room temperature (as recommended by James Martin) - I'm trying to work out when I last blogged. I think John Gosden had a fringe, S Club 7 were atop the hit parade and diesel cars were the future. I may be wrong though. A google search suggests Frankel's swansong in the Champion Stakes at Ascot. Now there was a day.

0900: Good morning and welcome to sunny California ahead of day two of the Breede....oh hang on no. I wasn't offered that gig this time around. No Matt Brocklebank is currently in his beachside appartment (true), sleeping off the Dos Equis (possible) after a cracking opening night in Del Mar where he was among the winners (true).

Do check out his preview of tonight's action right here - and follow his own blog - a bit like a spin off to mine, think Going Straight to Porridge, and you're on the right lines from about 5pm.

But before then welcome to a dank Yorkshire, yes dank, and what a day of jumps racing we have in store. Charlie Hall Chase day was always one of my favourites of my calendar. I was fortunate enough to be brought up watching the likes of Wayward Lad, Burrough Hill Lad, Silver Buck et all strut their stuff in it.

This year's renewal is an absolute cracker isn't it - full racecard and video form right here.

It's not just about that one race though with fascinating support races and intriguing action at Ascot and Down Royal. Right so pleasantries over - let's be having your Saturday best bets, thoughts on the burning subjects of the day - in fact anything that can go into a blog. Email them across to racingfeedback@sportinglife.com or tweet me @daveord.

Right I need rashers to get going. Not the sort of stringy nonsense Brocklebank will be doing battle with in the States but good old fashioned British or Irish rashers. It's that sort of day.
