BEDFORD, OH (WOIO) - A mother and two of her children are dead, another is in critical condition after an accident that happened at Northfield Road and Berwyn Street in Bedford Friday night.

The accident happened around 9:45 p.m.

Bedford Police say a 48-year-old Warrensville Heights man failed to stop at a red light at the intersection and slammed into another car driven by 30-year-old Maria Thorpe of Maple Heights.

Thorpe had her four children, ages 12, 10, 8 and 5 in the car with her.

Police say Thorpe and two of the children, 8-year-old Zariah Roberts and 5-year-old Zyanah Roberts died.

The 10-year-old, Zumahya Thorpe was transported to Rainbow Babies & Children's Hospital where she's on a ventilator and listed in critical condition.  The 12-year-old, Zalakah Thorpe, was treated and released.

Neighbors tell us that Thorpe was also pregnant with a baby girl and due in June.

The male driver was transported to the hospital, treated and released into police custody.

The crash is being investigated by the Southeast Area Law Enforcement (SEALE) Accident investigative Team.

Alcohol may have been a factor in the crash.

No charges have been filed, the case will be reviewed by a prosecutor on Monday.
