As Tops continues to celebrate its Grand Re-Opening celebration of its Dunkirk, NY store located at 3955 Vineyard Dr., it would be remiss if it didn’t thank its partners in the community for their support over the years. We are grateful for their support not only of Tops, but the community at large, helping to make Dunkirk a wonderful place to live, work, and raise our families.

As a long-time member of the community, it is our commitment to keep our neighborhoods strong. The Medina Tops store made $1,000 donations to each of the following local groups as a thank you for their support of the community:

Campus and Community Children’s Center – In September 1974, the Campus and Community Children’s Center (CCCC) at Fredonia opened its doors to 25 preschoolers. Today, enrollment has reached between 175-200 children each week. The Center operates both early childhood and school age programs at three sites; the Early Care and Education Program is held in-house in a freestanding building adjacent to the campus on the corner of Brigham and Temple Roads. The School Age Program offers Before School, After School Club, Holiday Programs, and Summer Camp Program located on Church Street in Fredonia, NY. The newest addition to the CCCC family is the 3PK & 4PK programs that serve three-year-old & four-year-old children residing in the Dunkirk City School District. The Dunkirk programs are located within School 4 & School 7 in Dunkirk, New York.

East Dunkirk Volunteer Fire Dept. – The East Dunkirk Volunteer Fire Department, located in Dunkirk, NY, provides fire protection and emergency response services to the Dunkirk community. The Fire Department’s mission is to prevent the loss of life and property. In addition to responding to fires, the East Dunkirk Volunteer Fire Department also responds to medical emergencies, motor vehicle accidents, rescue calls, and incidents involving hazardous materials.

Lakeshore Humane Society – The Lakeshore Humane Society is a non-profit, all volunteer organization, dedicated to helping protect the welfare of all animals and providing humane education to our community. The organization was established in 1980 under the name of The Dunkirk Humane Society, later renamed as they expanded their area of service to include the entire north end of Chautauqua County.

People Inc. – People Inc. is working toward a future where all persons whose needs limit their integration into the community can reach their highest level of human potential as responsible members of society. It is hoped that these individuals will, to their potential, be contributing and active members in their communities, enjoying the greatest possible degree of independence and acceptance, in all aspects of their lives.

The St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Food Pantry – has been in operation at the Northern Chautauqua Catholic School, Washington Avenue, Dunkirk since 1983. The weekly food pantry operation provides grocery items to income-eligible clients on a monthly basis, and also provides Christmas baskets to approximately 125 needy families in December. A dedicated staff of volunteers maintains and distributes the food from the Washington Avenue site on Wednesdays from 3:15 to 7:15 p.m. In cases of emergencies, other arrangements can be made to place food in the hands of those who desperately need it.

The pantry is administered through the auspices of St. Elizabeth Ann Seton parish and is appreciative of community support through individuals and generous organizations such as Tops Friendly Markets.

Based in Williamsville, NY, Tops Markets currently operates 150 grocery stores in New York, Pennsylvania, and Vermont, including five that are run by franchisees. As the largest private, for-profit employer in Western New York, with over 14,000 associates, the company is dedicated to providing sustainably sourced, high-quality products, while helping its communities flourish via support for programs that eradicate hunger and disease, educate youth and reduce environmental waste and energy consumption.
