Singapore CPI edges higher for third straight month, but core inflation dips

UOB and Citi expect MAS will hold off tightening policy till October

SINGAPORE (NewsRise) - Singapore consumers experienced higher prices for a third straight month in February as the higher cost of private road transport offset lower rents, but core inflation eased and authorities said overall price pressures remain subdued.

Data released by the Department of Statistics on Thursday showed the city-state's consumer price index rose 0.7% in February from a year ago, quickening from January's 0.6% and December's 0.2% pace of increase.
