Nebraska country singer killed in UTV crash after county fair performance

Authorities in Nebraska are investigating the death of country singer Abby Nicole.

The Thayer County Sheriff’s office responded to a 911 call claiming that a 25-year-old woman had been injured in a utility task vehicle accident at the Thayer County Fairgrounds in Deshler, Neb. The call came in at 4:20 a.m. on Sunday, according to ABC affiliate News Channel Nebraska.

The singer, born Abby Uecker, was transported to Thayer County Health Services in Hebron, Neb. The outlet reports that she was pronounced dead nearly an hour later.

Nebraska State Patrol’s investigation into the accident is ongoing. Her official cause of death remains unknown.

A report from WOWT suggests Uecker and her band performed at a fair over the weekend. They teased their performance on Facebook on Friday.

Chad Barnhill, a member of Uecker’s band, paid tribute to the late songstress on Facebook. The drummer fondly recalled drives with Uecker, thanking her for being a “gift.”

“I miss you soooo much Abby Nicole…you were ready to be the One Me we talked about. I drove home today and wanted you in my passenger seat. Feet on the dash. Wrapped up in your blanket. Singing our favorite songs,” Barnhill wrote.

“You weren’t there, but I still felt you. I Will Always Love You Abby. I promise to celebrate your Life with others. You touched so many lives. Especially mine. Music is a Gift That Lasts a Lifetime. Thank You for being my Gift.”

Fans expressed their sadness over Uecker’s death on social media. One called the up and coming recording artist “a beautiful angel,” while another dubbed her “a beautiful soul.”
