Speaking at the Cheltenham Literature Festival, he explained: 'There are so many things that I dream about doing and am excited about doing.

'I am having a lot of fun with my YouTube channel and I would really like to expand that and hope in the future I can be a TV presenter, which is something I really enjoy doing.

'Who knows what I would present? But it would fun to do something, I just like talking to people, meeting people.

'I also like travelling, eating, cooking and anything to do with adrenaline and any kind of bungee jumping, sky diving - not the sort of stuff I can do while diving. That kind of stuff I am all over.'

Daley is not just known for his sporting success, as he has become a social media star with 2.6 million followers on Twitter while the video he posted on YouTube of his wedding to screenwriter Dustin Lance Black received more than one million views.

Describing his attitude to Twitter, he said: 'The one golden rule I go by is if you won't say... there's 140 characters in a sentence... to your grandparents, definitely do not post it on Twitter.'

Daley, who said he is not a very good swimmer, was speaking at the Cheltenham Literature Festival where he was promoting his new book Tom's Daily Plan, a mixture of exercise and tips on healthy eating.

It is a very personal book, with recipes from his grandmother, mother and husband - and dedicated to his biggest champion, his dad Rob, who died from a brain tumour aged just 40 in 2011.

Daley said the last 12 months were a rollercoaster of emotions - from the highs of winning a second Olympic medal, getting married and winning the world championships to the lows of crashing out of the Olympic 10 metre platform diving competition in the semi-final.

'It's all been a massive whirlwind since the Olympic Games last year. There is a lot of highs and lows from last year's Olympics,' he said.

'Winning the bronze medal in the syncro event with Dan Goodfellow; and yet one of the most devastating experiences of my life in the individual event.

'After that I took a lot of time off to reflect and move on and I came back to training properly in January.

'I put so much pressure on myself leading into 2016 and I made it out to be such a big thing where you train so hard for one moment, that one chance on the diving board, and if you mess it up in that 1.6 seconds, it's over.

'I learnt that at the Olympic Games - the biggest stage of all. For me to come back to diving, work hard again and try to get back to when I was 15 years old and win my first world title.

'I do diving because I love it but I do put a lot of pressure upon myself. Train as hard as you can, enjoy it and have fun. There was a lit bit of redemption in being able to beat the Chinese divers.

'It's been a whirlwind and getting married half-way through the year as well, which was good fun, too.'

Daley said it was not until he walked around the Olympic village in Beijing and seeing the likes of Rafael Nadal and Usain Bolt walking around that he realised the enormity of what he had achieved in qualifying aged just 14.

'I hardly remember anything from 2008, 2012 or 2016 and that's why I wrote a really detailed diary of every single day that I was there, so I could go back and read it.'
