Symphony, Fireworks In Cornelius Set For This Saturday

The Charlotte Symphony will play this Saturday at Bailey Road Park, followed by fireworks. Here's what you need to know to catch the fun.

CORNELIUS, NC — Annual July 4th celebrations kick off early in Cornelius’ Bailey Road Park on Saturday with the Charlotte Symphony Orchestra’s performance of “Celebrate America,” followed by fireworks.

Here’s what the Town of Cornelius’ Department of Parks, Arts and Recreation says about the event:

“Join the Cornelius PARC Department for an exciting evening with the Charlotte Symphony Orchestra as we "Celebrate America" under the stars. Music lovers of all ages are invited to come early and bring your picnic baskets, blankets and lawn chairs to enjoy a free, outdoor summer pops concert this Saturday, June 23, at Bailey Road Park (11536 Bailey Road) in Cornelius.

  • 6:00 p.m. - Gates will open, along with children's activities, food trucks, and concessions. Beer and wine will be available for purchase with proceeds benefiting Lake Norman Wildlife Conservationists. Shuttle service will begin.
  • 6:45 p.m. - A prelude act by Rockie Lynne will kick off the evening of music
  • 8:15 p.m. - The Charlotte Symphony will present a program of popular and patriotic music
  • A fireworks show will immediately follow the Symphony's performance

Mike McKay of WDAV 89.9 will emcee the evening. Limited parking is available in the park, as well as at Bailey Middle and Hough High Schools, with free shuttle service to transport you to the park. Coolers are welcome, but glass containers or bottles, smoking, e-cigs, pets, tents, or open flames are not allowed.
