I recently visited the Canyon Run Dog Park at Mackenzie Park for the first time.

It was so much fun sitting there and watching the dogs (especially the big ones) run and play and socialize.

This particular dog park is well-maintained, has plenty of benches and has a lot of visitors.

Thank you to the City of Lubbock and Lubbock City Council for making this longtime dream a reality, and many big kudos to (director of Parks and Recreation) Bridget Faulkenberry for the amazing job she has done running the parks and recreation department.

As a side note, to my friends and fellow Lubbock residents in the southwest part of town that have not checked out Makenzie Park, you are missing out.

The canyon lakes area, in my opinion, is the best part of Lubbock. The big, mature trees and all the lakes running through Makenzie Park are priceless. It is truly a jewel in the midst of this dry West Texas town.
