Ashton Kutcher on why he wanted to play Steve Jobs
Ashton Kutcher is stepping into some pretty big shoes with his latest role in "Jobs."
The "Two and a Half Men" star plays Steve Jobs, the Apple co-founder and CEO who had a big hand in revolutionizing the tech industry. The film is set mostly during Apple's early days when Jobs convinced fellow co-founder Steve Wozniak (Josh Gad) to believe in his vision.
The two men encounter obstacles during their rise to the top. Apple is launched with humble beginnings inside an old garage and later on Jobs' skills at running a large corporation are called into question.
Of course, we all know by now how the story ends. Following his ousting by the Apple board and subsequent return, Jobs reinvented the company in the 1990s and 2000s, turning it into one of the most successful corporations on the planet.
Jobs died from pancreatic cancer in 2011.
For Kutcher, taking on the role was a no-brainer.
"Why would you not want to play Steve Jobs?," Kutcher told CBSNews.com at a New York screening of the film on Wednesday night.
"I think it was a great convergence of my personal interest and my craft," he said. "I love technology. I love entrepreneurship. I love being involved in it and being able to express that through my craft was really gratifying."
