Pedestrian Hit, Killed In Early Morning Pasadena Crash

A man crossing a Pasadena road outside a crosswalk was fatally struck by an SUV early Thursday, Anne Arundel County Police say.

PASADENA, MD — A man crossing a Pasadena road outside a crosswalk was fatally struck by a car early Thursday, Anne Arundel County Police say. The victim is Raymond Leeson, 60, with no fixed address. Authorities say the accident happened about 5:30 a.m. Nov. 15 on Ft. Smallwood Road near Rugby Road in Pasadena.

A 2014 Hyundai SUV driven by Debra Arnold, 61 of the 200 block of Meadow Road in Pasadena, was southbound on Ft. Smallwood Road when Leeson began crossing the roadway from a nearby business. He was not walking in a crosswalk, police say, and Arnold's Hyundai struck the pedestrian, then immediately stopped.

Leeson was taken to University of Maryland Shock Trauma with critical injuries, and died Thursday afternoon, police said. Arnold was not injured.

The preliminary cause of the crash appears to be Leeson crossing the roadway and failing to yield to roadway traffic, officials said. The case will be reviewed by the state's attorney.
