Ready For Action / Sectional boys track meets take place today

The boys track postseason begins today with sectional action at 32 sites, including Columbus North.

Columbus East, Hauser and Edinburgh will compete in the North Sectional, along with the host Bull Dogs. Jennings County and Trinity Lutheran are at the Bedford North Lawrence Sectional, Brown County is at the Bloomington North Sectional and South Decatur is at the East Central Sectional.

Admission for all sites is $6. Here is a look at the sectionals involving area schools:

Columbus North Sectional

Bloomington North Sectional

East Central Sectional

When: 5:30 p.m. today

Teams: South Decatur, Batesville, East Central, Franklin County, Greensburg, Jac-Cen-Del, Lawrenceburg, Milan, North Decatur, Oldenburg Academy, Rising Sun, South Dearborn, South Ripley

Regional competition

The top three finishers in each event from each sectional advance to regional competition on May 23. Beyond that, the next-best four times or distances from the four feeder sectionals into each regional earn call-backs to bring the number of entrants in each event at the regional to 16.

The Columbus North and East Central sectionals, along with the Connersville and Warren Central sectionals, feed into the Warren Central Regional. The Bedford North Lawrence and Bloomington North sectionals, along with the Jeffersonville and Terre Haute North sectionals, feed into the Bloomington North Regional.
