On Mother’s Day Weekend, The annual Placitas Studio Tour presents fifty-five artists who welcome visitors to their studios for a personal and educational behind-the-scenes look at their artwork. You are invited to take advantage of this special opportunity to discover the artists fascinating and uniquely creative environments, for some studios are only open to the public during the studio tour.
This year the tour has many new artists who have broadened the already wide array of fine art and craft that is offered during the tour’s two-day event. Creations in basketry, fiber, ceramics, steel art, glass art, sculpture, mosaics, mixed media, weaving, folk art, collage, stained glass, wood sculptures, jewelry, painting, pottery, photography, paper quilting await you at the forty-eight studios that are located throughout the scenic foothills of Placitas.
Guests are reminded to wear comfortable walking shoes as the terrain can change from the diverse studio settings. Many artists offer complimentary snacks and beverages, including water.
Placitas, New Mexico is located in the foothills of the Sandia Mountains off I-25 between Albuquerque and Santa Fe. Directions from I-25 are to take Exit #242 and turn east on Highway 165 towards Placitas. Colorful signs will direct you to the studios of your choice.
