Beyonce is rarely caught off guard but a close friend of the pop star managed to do the impossible.

The Apes**t singer was pranked into thinking she was taking a selfie but eventually realised it was a video. Classic.

The 36-year-old was visited backstage on her On The Run II tour by longtime friend and celebrity make-up artist Mally Roncal. After no doubt enjoying a good catch-up, Mally got Beyonce to pose for what the singer believed was a selfie.

Putting on her best pout, queen Bey throws a fierce stare at the camera as Mally gushes: ‘Who’s the most beautiful woman on the planet?’

After a few seconds, Beyonce realises what her friend is up to and exclaims in surprise: ‘Oh, wait, this is a video?’

Mally then bursts into laughter as Bey says: ‘Sorry, I’m over here making fish lips!’ After a member of staff informs the ever-busy singer that it’s time to get ready for the performance, she returns to the camera briefly and tells Mally: ‘Love you.’

In the accompanying caption, Mally wrote a gushing tribute to Beyonce and revealed that she and the singer have been close friends for nearly two decades.

The make-up artist wrote: ‘@Beyonce I love you. There are no words to describe how priceless our friendship is to me. I met this Other Worldly Earth Angel when she was 19 years old and now, two marriages, 6 kids, countless makeup sessions, photo/video shoots, award ceremonies and 16 years between us, every time is see you it’s like yesterday!

‘Thank you for loving, kind, silly, inspiring spirit. I love you!’

Mally also wrote a sweet message for Beyonce’s mother, Tina Knowles, and manager Yvette Noel Schure.

Fans praised Beyonce’s diva-less reaction to the selfie prank and were thrilled to see an unfiltered, behind-the-scenes glimpse at her personality.

One BeyHive member commented: ‘Love to see B’s authenticity in the moment. Don’t get to see these moments often publicly.’

Another of Mally’s Instagram followers chimed in: ‘Ughh, i love seeing rare videos of Bey actually living.’

A third comically exclaimed: ‘Omg Beyoncé talks regular.’

Beyonce and Jay-Z’s On The Run II tour has arrived on their home soil in North America. The couple’s last performance took place at the MetLife Stadium in East Rutherford and their next show is set to take place at the Gillette Stadium in Foxborough, Massachusetts.

As if she wasn’t busy enough, Beyonce has also edited the cover of Vogue’s September issue, becoming the first celebrity – apart from Anna Wintour, of course – to do so.
