Luis Fonsi Wants to Make Music With Fellow Puerto Ricans Ricky Martin and Chayanne

"Despacito" singer Luis Fonsi is looking for another big collaboration and Ricky Martin and Chayanne are on his wish list. Fonsi talks about what he has learned from fellow Puerto Rican superstars.

Luis Fonsi says Ricky Martin and Chayanne are on his wish list for future collaborations. The singer spoke to Televisa Espectáculos during a visit to Mexico for his World and Dance Tour and revealed he admires his fellow Puerto Rican superstars.

“Besides being great friends of mine, they are great human beings,” Fonsi said. “And if there is something I appreciate very much, it’s humility in artists. Two that I have learned a lot from are Ricky and Chayanne, who are huge superstars but are super humble. To me that’s the definition of a great artist, and that’s what I hope to continue to be.”

Now Fonsi is not shy about voicing his desire to possibly record new music together. “I hope we can collaborate. Maybe all three of us, three Boricua voices together. Who knows? I’m going to call them,” he added with a laugh.

The artist has had great success with his recent collaborations with Daddy Yankee on “Despacito” and Demi Lovato on “Echame La Culpa.”

Fonsi shared an unforgettable experience with Martin and Chayanne when they flew together to Puerto Rico — along with other celebrities like Nicky Jam and Gloria Estefan — in October to deliver essential goods to the victims of the devastating Hurricane Maria. The Puerto Rican stars handed out boxes of water and other life-saving supplies — along with empowering words — after the natural disaster.

The artist enjoyed a well-deserved family vacation in Cancún, Mexico, in mid-March and also shared his plans for his upcoming 40th birthday celebration on April 15. “Forty, but I feel like 20,” he said. “I feel better than ever. I’m going to celebrate that day with my family, thank God. That’s what I want most, to celebrate that day at home with my kids, my wife, my family, my siblings and parents and give thanks.”
