Peaky Blinders is offering a sneak peek at a familiar face from The Hunger Games, who isn't actually looking very familiar at the moment!

Most probably know Sam Claflin as the blonde heartthrob Finnick Odair fighting alongside Katniss Everdeen to liberate Panem, but he's almost unrecognisable in his new role on the BBC's gangster drama.

The first-look photo has been released to mark Claflin's first day of filming on series five, and although details about his character are being kept under wraps, he's expected to cross paths with Tommy Shelby at Whitehall.

Peaky Blinders left off with Tommy (Cillian Murphy) being elected an MP, but gangland turf wars might not have prepared him to go against a cunning politician with a plan to radically change Britain forever.

Along with Sam Claflin, the BBC drama has also welcomed The New Mutants' Anya Taylor-Joy, The Bisexual star Brian Gleeson and Hollyoaks favourite Emmett J. Scanlan to the core cast.

On top of series 5, Peaky Blinders director Otto Bathurst revealed a few weeks ago that a script for a film spin-off is "actually being written" at the moment as well.

"I think Steve, Steve Knight the writer, I think they're planning something, yeah," he confirmed.

While we're all waiting, there's a new Shelby-flavoured gin coming for the holidays, and by order of the Peaky Blinders, we'd suggest you slip it into your Christmas stockings.

Peaky Blinders will be moving from BBC Two to BBC One when it returns in 2019. In the US, the series is available on Netflix.
