A carjacking left a driver in Arvada wounded by gunfire and an assailant at large tonight.

The victim’s name was not released. He was rushed to a local hospital.

Police said the carjacker got into a Chevy Tahoe stopped at a light, then shot the driver in a struggle.

The shooting happened about 5 p.m. at a stoplight at Wadsworth Boulevard and 77th Avenue. After the assault, the carjacker ran to a white sedan and left, police said.

His description nor the victim’s condition have not been released.

Wadsworth Boulevard was closed for more than two hours while police investigated.
