Longtime Alabama HS coach Frank Cotten dies

Frank Cotton, who coached football at three Alabama schools and also served as principal at T.R. Miller in Brewton, has died.

Cotton spent five seasons, from 1960-64, as the head coach at Coffeeville, his alma mater in rural Clarke County. He also spent 1965 as the football coach at Macon Academy before leading T.R. Miller's football program from 1973-80.

At T.R. Miller, where he also coached basketball, he enjoyed two 10-win seasons and made three playoff appearances.

He later served as T.R. Miller's principal and spent time on the AHSAA Central Board.

Funeral services will be Saturday at First Baptist Church in Brewton, with visitation from noon to 3 p.m., followed by the service.
