Two people died Monday in state crashes, authorities reported

Two people died Monday on state roadways, authorities reported. 

Dana Gay Woodson,  57, of Mannford

Woodson was pronounced dead at the scene of the collision at 2:18 p.m. on State Highway 74 at Waterloo Road in Logan County, the Oklahoma Highway Patrol reported..

Woodson was driving west on Waterloo Road when she failed to stop for a red light and was hit by a dump truck driven north on SH 74 by Bradley Scott Cordis, 35, of McLoud. Cordis was taken to an Oklahoma City hospital where he was treated and released.

The car driven by Woodson hit a tractor-trailer driven by Jorge Olvera-Arreola, 55, of Felda, Florida, who had stopped on SH 74 to turn east, the patrol reported.

Olvera-Arreola was taken to a local hospital where he was treated for injuries and released.

All drivers involved in the collisions wore seat belts.

Kenneth Akins, 65, of Forest Park

Akins was driving east on NE 23 in Midwest City about 7:45 a.m. Monday when he tried to turn left at his workplace in the state Employment Security Commission office housed at the District 1 Oklahoma County maintenance facility. 

Akins was struck from behind by a car driven east on NE 23 by Dia Russell-Smith, 46, of Bethany, police reported.

Akins was was taken to OU Medical Center where he was pronounced dead. Smith was taken to a local hospital and treated for injuries, police reported.
