Egi Rozten Enjoys Rematch Redemption With Third-Round TKO Of Riski Umar

Riski “King Kong” Umar and Egi Rozten faced off in a catchweight rematch of their battle in January, when Indogym’s Rozten stepped up to make his promotional debut with just hours to spare.

Umar was victorious in their first encounter, but with a full training camp ahead of ONE: CONQUEST OF HEROES in Jakarta, Indonesia on Saturday, 22 September, Rozten turned the tables and levelled the scores with a third-round TKO victory.

In the opening stanza, it was the boxer from Bandung who took the initiative, pressing forward with his hands, and landing some clean left hooks on “King Kong.”

Umar tried to fire back, but the pop was lacking in his punches, and his kicks mostly missed the mark.

Rozten came out with the same intention in round two, keeping up the pressure with hooks and crosses, showing the boxing ability that made him a regional champion.

Umar worked for a takedown and had success sliding into mount, where he landed some punches, but Rozten was able to find his way back to his feet and resume his offensive.

Umar was worn out from the thudding shots to the head and body he had absorbed at the end of round two, and he could barely keep his hands above his waist at the start of the final frame.

Rozten, operating at peak condition this time, sensed the end was near, and pummelled his man until referee Yuji Shimada stepped in to call it off with 51 seconds gone in round three.

Rozten earned himself a second shot in ONE Championship thanks to his fearless late notice debut, and he proved he deserved the opportunity to showcase his talents under more favourable circumstances.

He outworked and overwhelmed Umar, to pick up a huge win inside the Jakarta Convention Center.
