Entitled Aceyalone & The Lonely Ones, the album will showcase the diverse wordsmith as he draws upon such influences as Phil Spector, 60s girl groups, the J.B.s and the underbelly of raw, uncut funk.
This album will continue Aceyalone's journey outside the normal parameter of rap, following on the heels of his 2007 release Lightning Strikes, which dipped into his love of Jamaican music.
For Aceyalone & The Lonely Ones the multi-faceted MC looked to Spector's celebrated Wall of Sound, Motown's Holland/Dozier/Holland stylings, and blues/rock legends like Bo Diddley.
"I'm not from that era, but this is my ode to it," says Aceyalone. "I'm just putting myself into that character as a showman and bandleader. But I can still rhyme with the best of them. Artists are going to experiment and go different places and I love that whole era anyway."
Aceyalone & The Lonely Ones will be in stores March 31, 2009.
