Watch Steve Angello’s Bloody New Video ‘The Ocean’
The wait is over for Steve Angello fans: On Friday, the DJ-producer (formerly of the EDM powerhouse Swedish House Mafia) finally released all 13 tracks of his first solo effort, Wild Youth. The first six songs on the album, which Angello dramatically dubbed “Chapter 1,” came out in November.
Chapter 2’s arrival was accompanied by a dark new music video for “The Ocean,” about a boxer struggling to support his young daughter with a dead-end job at a pita factory and any money he earns being beaten to a bloody pulp in the boxing ring. The video, directed by Filip Tellander, was filmed at the Rosengård Boxing Club in Malmö, Sweden, among other snowy, desolate locales.
“Wild Youth is the soundtrack of my life,” Angello told Rolling Stone in November. “It’s based on a true story — honest, naked and the most exposed I’ve ever been. The visuals go hand in hand with the music and everything I’ve tried capturing can be seen and heard.”
Chapter 2’s seven songs feature guest appearances by Andrew Watt, Francesco Rossi, David Garza, Dan Reynolds and Saints Of Valory. Both chapters of Wild Youth were put out on Angello’s new label, Size. Additionally, Angello also premiered a 13-minute mini mix on Soundcloud.
