Everett, Prepare To Meet Your Neighbors At National Night Out

Just one week left to prepare for National Night Out. Some Everett neighborhoods are having ice cream socials, others BBQs and a couple are giving away free backpacks. Here’s the information from Everett Police…

The City of Everett’s Office of Neighborhoods and theEverett Police Department invite the public to do their part to build stronger, more connected communities by participating in the annual National Night Out Against Crime on Tuesday, August 2nd.

Neighbors across the community will take part in National Night Out Against Crime celebrations in Everett and Snohomish County. National Night Out (NNO) is intended to heighten awareness of how neighbors can help prevent crime, strengthen neighborhood relationships and form police-community partnerships.

“We are pleased to see so many Everett residents organizing National Night Out events,” said Everett Police Chief Dan Templeman. “If you’re new to our community or have never participated in an event, I encourage you to come out and get to know your neighbors.”

Once again, members of the Everett Police Department, Fire Department, Emergency Management, Office of Neighborhoods and other city staff will travel throughout the city to participate with neighborhoods and small block watch groups at their NNO celebrations. Everett residents and neighborhood groups are hosting more than 20 events across the city.

“Neighbors who know each other are more likely to look out for each other, to prevent crime and to help each other when crime or natural disasters strike,” said Wendy McClure, neighborhoods and community engagement coordinator. “Events can be as simple as getting together with your neighbors for an hour or inviting the whole neighborhood to have a barbecue and games.”
