THE statue of Admiral Robert Blake in Bridgwater is getting a spruce up.
The statue, in The Cornhill, is a prime spot for seagulls and as a result, can easily get a bit dirty.
But Sedgemoor District Council has brought in a specialist cleaning company to give him the once over, at a cost of around £1,000.
"A cleaning company will be using specialist cleaning techniques to make sure that the statue and granite plinth is returned to its former glory by removing grime, dirt and bird droppings," a spokesperson said.
"The bronze statue will also receive two coats of protective wax."
The statue has been cordoned off during the work, the first time the statue has been cleaned since 2015.
