Girls Prep School Teacher Accused Of Romancing 14-Year-Old

A teacher at Ferrell Girls Preparatory Academy was arrested on Wednesday for instigating a romantic relationship with a student.

TAMPA, FL -- A teacher at Ferrell Girls Preparatory Academy was arrested on Wednesday for instigating a romantic relationship with a student.

According to the Hillsborough County Sheriff's Office, Jason Osborne, 40, of Apollo Beach, communicated with a 14-year-old student via social media and met with her on one occasion.

He is charged with a felony for offenses against students by authority figures.

The academy at 4302 N. 24th St., Tampa, is a Hillsborough County middle magnet school, Formerly Middleton Middle School, the academy was created during the 2011-12 school year in response to a request for single-gender school options.
