Emily Ratajkowski has slammed haters for suggesting she posted a side by side comparison of her body with that of a friend.
‘I love my girl’s body and her and I both think she looks great here and that this is a very cute pic of us getting severe sunburns,’ she shared on Instagram stories after followers claimed she was subjecting her friend to humiliation.
‘I’m proud she wears my suits,’ she continued.
‘Different bodies are beautiful and I hope y’all learn that soon.’
The 27-year-old model was attacked online by followers who suggested she had ‘specifically posted a photo so that it was clear your body is better than the body of your friend’.
‘Why would she subject her friend to this humiliation and online bullying by posting this?’ another Instagram user asked.
But Emily wasn’t having any of it, and in the comments, she also added: ‘All these haters are crazy.
‘Just because you’re used to seeing one body type on the internet doesn’t mean that that’s the only kind that should be considered “beautiful”.’
Em is an outspoken feminist and is constantly forced to explain how she can be a sexual being and a feminist at the same time.
In December, she responded to criticism that suggested she wasn’t allowed to reclaim things seen to be tools of the patriarchy to make herself feel good.
She defended her image in an interview with Vogue Australia, addressing the argument that her overt sexiness is somehow pandering to patriarchal ideals.
Emily said: ‘The only argument that I think is sort of interesting is the conversation that somehow I’m playing into a patriarchal society by looking the way I look and capitalising on my sexiness.
‘But I don’t really care if me wearing a crop top is somehow playing into some patriarchy, because it makes me feel good about myself, and I shouldn’t be limited on that.’
She added: ‘Making rules as to what a feminist should look like or wear is insane to me.’
