Spring ready: Classes teach lawn care, gardening tips

It still is winter, but, local lawn experts and gardeners say you can get your landscaping and lawn ready now and in the next few weeks.

Here are some upcoming classes you can take to start getting your lawn ready for the plushness of spring.

GREAT LANDSCAPING IDEAS, 2 p.m. Feb. 22, Trafalgar library, 424 S. Tower St. Free. Learn how to develop a home landscape plan and get ideas for improving the area around your home. Gardening expert Coletta Kosiba will offer advice for both new and experienced home gardeners. Sponsored by Trafalgar Country Gardeners and the Johnson County Public Library. No registration needed. Topics to be covered are best mowing techniques, proper timing for pre-emergent crabgrass herbicide, broadleaf weed control, aeration and establishing a fertilizing schedule.
