This should be a smash hit among Prince fans.
Questlove, the drummer for The Roots, is putting together a massive orchestra tour comprising The Purple One’s music as a tribute to the late music icon.
“It’s a full blown orchestra and a rhythm section,” Questlove tweeted. “Adding condiments and spices to what was prepared.”
The “4U” tour, which was first reported by Rolling Stone, is currently set to stop in 33 cities, including a show at Brooklyn’s Kings Theater on Sept. 20. The tour kicks off in New Brunswick, N.J., on Sept. 6 and also features dates in Buffalo (Sept. 19) and Binghamton (Sept. 21).
Washington, D.C., Atlanta, Orlando, Nashville, Chicago, Detroit, Dallas and Houston are the other major cities that the “4U” tour will travel through.
There are currently no plans for a California date. Questlove assured the fans hoping for west coast shows that this is “just the beginning.”
“Just give it a chance,” he tweeted. “If it works im certain it will travel all over. we in the baby steps mode now.”
Prince died in April 2016 at age of 57 from an accidental fentanyl overdose.
