EAST LANSING -- Two of the best lineman to ever suit up for Michigan State are now hall of famers.

Michigan State inducted six new members into its athletics Hall of Fame in a Thursday night ceremony, including Flozell Adams and Carl "Buck" Nystrom.

Adams, a three-year Michigan State starter from 1994-97, was named a first-team All-American and Big Ten Offensive Lineman of the Year as a senior. He went on to a 13-year NFL career that included five Pro Bowl appearances and a Super Bowl appearance.

Adams recently donated $1.5 million to the Spartan Stadium north end zone project, and the new home locker room is now named after his mother, Rachel Fairman Adams.

Carl “Buck” Nystrom won two Rose Bowls and a national championship as a lineman for the Spartans from 1953-55, earning All-American honors as a senior. He went on to a 38-year coaching career that included six seasons at Michigan State under Duffy Daugherty and George Perles.

The four other inductees are wrestler Greg Johnson, a three-time national champion, tennis player Sue Selke, a three-time individual Big Ten champion, Kathy Strahan, a softball national champion and gymnast Dave Thor, a three-time Big Ten all-around champion.

The six inductees will also be honored during Michigan State’s Saturday home game against Eastern Michigan.

The Michigan State Athletics Hall of Fame now has 125 inductees. It was founded in 1992 and is now housed in the Clara Bell Smith Student-Athlete Academic Center.
