The search for a missing 20-year-old man near Hydaburg has been suspended as of Saturday afternoon.

The U. S. Coast Guard said the man was reported overdue from an 18-foot skiff Thursday afternoon.

“Crews searched more than 40 hours for Frances Charles after he did not return from a fish camp in Eek Point,” a release from the Coast Guard said.

A skiff was found near California Island Thursday and a pair of boots in the water were also discovered by a boat crew Thursday.

“Coast Guard search and rescue crews covered more than 180 square miles in their attempt to find Charles,” Nicholas Meyer, a Sector Juneau command duty officer said.
