Milan 3, Riverview 1: Miland hands Riverview first Huron League conference loss since 2011

Milan defeated Riverview 3-1 on Wednesday, Oct. 1, handing Riverview its first Huron League conference loss since 2011, according to Milan coach Simon Evans.

Milan's Alex Maranville, Jacob Johnson and Kian Evans scored one goal each, with Johnson adding an assist.

Riverview's lone goal was an own goal, accidentally scored by a Milan player.

Milan and Riverview were tied 1-1 with 10 minutes left in regulation, but two additional Milan goals gave it the lead.

"The final score was 3-1, but it was a tough game," coach Evans said. "We didn't make any adjustments because we were playing well; we knew we'd generate more opportunities and have a chance to put them away."

Milan faces Dexter on Friday, Oct. 3.
