Miami power couple Lea and Roy Black had to postpone the date of their Blacks’ Annual Gala by six months to get Queen of Soul Aretha Franklin to perform this year.
Lea told us she tried booking Pharrell Williams for her party’s usual date in March, but his schedule was booked. Then she tried Andrea Bocelli. but he was only free around Easter, and that date wasn’t ideal. Lea then decided on Franklin, and the only date that worked for her was Oct. 25. Franklin doesn’t fly, so she’ll be taking a bus to Florida that will add extra travel time for the star.
“They better not get a flat tire!” Lea quipped. E!’s Ross Mathews will serve as emcee, and Gloria Estefan and Courtney Love are expected to attend the charity event.
