A call has been put out for people to rally around a Vietnam War era veteran who will be laid to rest in Fort Logan National Cemetery.

A military service will be held 11:15 a.m. Friday for Army Pvt. Frederick E. Waltz.

On Tuesday All Veterans Funeral & Cremation, which is handling the arrangements, put out a Facebook post asking for support in fear that no family or friends would attend.

“It is incredibly sad to see such a thing happening,” said Jill Ross, an All Veterans spokeswoman.

By Wednesday afternoon, more than 300 people had liked the Facebook post, which had more than 40 comments and over 200 shares.

Among the comments was: “As a Vietnam veteran. I know what you’ve been through. Sleep well my brother you are at peace.”

Waltz died recently in a local care facility where he had been for about the past two years, Ross said.

Citing privacy regulations, Ross could only release limited information about Waltz, she said.

All Veterans staff found a single relative, a cousin who declined any responsibility for funeral arrangements, Ross said.

The military burial service will be at Fort Logan National Cemetery, 3698 S. Sheridan Blvd., Denver, Staging Area C.

“We would love as many people to show up as possible,” Ross said. “To honor him.”
