The Bibelot Reveals Plans For Its 4 Locations

The outlook for the Bibelot became unclear when the longtime owner announced her retirement late last year.

TWIN CITIES, MN — Two Bibelot stores in the Minneapolis-Saint Paul metro will live on after the retirement of their owner, and two others will close permanently. The local chain announced Monday morning that the Linden Hills and Grand Avenue Bibelot stores will remain open and operate under the "GoodThings" brand.

Meanwhile, the St. Anthony Park and Northeast Minneapolis Bibelot locations will close. Staff there were invited to apply for positions at what will become the GoodThings stores on Grand Avenue and in Linden Hills.

Similar to Bibelot, GoodThings is a boutique retailer that's done business for 45 years in White Bear Lake and 15 years in Maple Grove.

"GoodThings stores are home to trendy and classic home decor, gifts, tabletop, entertaining, gardening, spa, travel essentials, novelty and sports gifts, Minnesota clothing, beer and barware gifts, food gifts, and more," reads the company's website.

In November, Bibelot owner Roxana Freese announced she would be retiring.

“What a natural fit it was for GoodThings to merge with Bibelot Shops,” said GoodThings owner Tyler Conrad in a statement Monday.

“Both stores were founded by local business women who were ahead of their time in sourcing distinctive, local, handmade and environmentally responsible goods. With a combined 99 years in the Twin Cities retail scene, both brands have not only become iconic places to shop, but pillars of their communities."

A grand re-opening for the Bibelot-GoodThings stores is planned for September 2019.

“I am delighted that GoodThings will be combining much of the Bibelot tradition with their own as they move into the future. It is truly a wonderful fit,” said retiring Bibelot owner Roxy Freese.

Established by Freese in 1966, the Bibelot specializes in selling fair-trade and environmentally responsible products as well as locally designed and hand-crafted items.
