A woman who was given a prognosis of less than two years to live has won her battle against cancer with the help of a changed diet.Kathy Bero was diagnosed with inflammatory breast cancer in 2005, and then was diagnosed with a high-grade tumor in her head and neck almost a year later. When chemotherapy and medication were causing her organs to fail, Bero decided to stop the treatments and pursue a diet and lifestyle change.She began eating anti-angiogenic foods, or foods that halt the growth of cancerous blood vessels. Her dietary success caught the attention of Dr. Isaac Kohane at Harvard University, whose team is studying all aspects of cancer survival associations, from genomics to spiritual beliefs.
