She is known to millions as the co-host of Good Morning Britain.

But, long before she shared the sofa with Piers Morgan, it appears that Susanna Reid was already being broadcast into the nation's homes - after footage of her as a child actress surfaced, this week.

Retro scenes were unearthed by producers of Sunday Brunch, who broadcast the long-forgotten clips of the 46 year-old performing in a 1985 production called The Price.

A six-part triller set in Northern Ireland, it told the tale of a wealthy businessman's wife who was kidnapped for ransom by an IRA Hitman.

Showing the prime-time anchor as a young teen, Susanna can be seen wearing a yellow jumper and her hair scarped back into a ponytail.

Sunday Brunch presenters Tim Lovejoy and Simon Rimmer introduced the clip ahead of an interview with the 46 year-old, who was clearly embarrassed by the footage.

After it flashed up on screen she squealed: "What was I wearing… And those eyebrows!" while laughing.

Explaining how she was cast in the show, she said: "I did an Agatha Christie on stage with Shirley Anne Fields and then after that I got a role playing Dame Harriet Water's daughter in a TV series called The Price where I was kidnapped by Adrian Dunbar and Derek Thompson.

"Adrian Thompson now plays the good guy in Line of Duty. He's the head of AC-12, he's like everyone's hero!".

The footage will no doubt shock fans of the breakfast TV host, although it's not her only acting role.

Susanna also appeared in the 2014 festive film Get Santa, which starred Rafe Spall and Jim Broadbent as heroes who save Christmas.
