Montgomery Woman Gets 6th DUI After 2 Crashes In Aurora: Cops

An Aurora woman faces felony charges after she allegedly caused two accidents and got her 6th DUI.

AURORA, IL — A Montgomery woman has been charged with her sixth DUI after she was allegedly involved in two traffic accidents in Aurora. Leah R. Behrens, 33, of the 1st block of Chatham Pl., was also charged with felony DUI, two additional DUIs, obstruction of justice, and several misdemeanor traffic violations.

Police say Behrens hit two cars at a stoplight near the intersection of Rte. 31 and Illinois Ave. around 6:35 p.m. According to police, no injuries were reported.

She then fled the crash scene, according to police, and got into another accident about 5 minutes later near the intersection of Broadway and Hazel, where she tried to turn left and cut off a pickup truck.

A Plano man was driving the truck with three children, ages 4, 12, and 14, but police say nobody was injured.

Behrens was reported by a couple eating at a nearby restaurant who witnessed the second accident, police say. The couple reportedly saw Behrens, who had gotten out of her car, "displaying obvious signs of intoxication."

Police say Behrens was taken to a nearby hospital, where she allegedly refused court-ordered urine and blood tests. This resulted in the obstruction of justice charge according to Aurora Police.
