Saturday and Sunday Brunch at GDL Italian by Giada

GDL Italian by Giada in Baltimore’s Horseshoe Casino has expanded their hours to include brunch Saturdays and Sundays from 10:30 am to 2 pm, tempting patrons and casino goers to indulge in their Italian fare.   Giada de Laurentiis (GDL) , Food Network star and cookbook author, combines her California take on her family’s  Italian cuisine (Kale Caesar Salad, Seasonal Frittata) with local Maryland dishes for brunch (Maryland Crab Hash, Crab Arancini).

Want something a bit more upscale from tailgating, consider GDL Italian, it is within walking distance of M & T Bank Stadium for the Raven’s home games.    In fact, one has a broad view of the stadium from GDL Italian’s dining room.

There is something for everyone’s taste from the brunch items to top favorites from GDL Italian’s dinner menu.  Available on both menus was my favorite, the antipasti platter filled with aged chunks of Parmigiano Reggiano topped with honeycomb, thinly sliced prosciutto di Parma, assorted olives, carponata, giardiniera and bacon wrapped dates.  Possibly the best antipasti platter to date, that and a glass of wine or two and you are golden.  You won’t go wrong with any of their pizzas, especially for brunch, the Carbonara Pizza with crispy pancetta, egg, fontina cheese and Gruyere cheese.

Want something stronger than fresh squeezed orange or grapefruit juice, consider their Bottomless Bloody Marys, Mimosas or Bellinis or order by the glass along with Aperol  Spritz or a Shakerato (cacao infused vodka, espresso and agave).
