Ms. Polsgrove discussed her book Divided Minds: Intellectuals and the Civil Rights Movement, published by W.W. Norton & Company. Ms. Polsgrove examines some of the writings of intellectuals and talks about the factors that she believes muffled the discussion of desegregation in the years shortly after Brown vs. Board of Education, namely the editorial choices of editors, the Cold War and the fear of retaliation in the South. After her presentation she answered questions from Ms. Suhrcke and members of the audience. close
