Vijayawada: Raking up an old issue and targeting the BJP, Telugu Desam MP Kesineni Nani claimed on Sunday that his party lost its majority in the Vijayawada LS seat because of the alliance it had with the BJP.
Mr Nani, referring to the 2014 Lok Sabha elections, said the TD managed to get only a 75,000 majority in the Vijaya-wada Lok Sabha poll which he contested with BJP as an ally of the TD. Had the TD contested the election independently, it would have got a 1.25 lakh majority, he claimed. The MP also said the TD will win the Vijayawada Lok Sabha seat with a huge majority in the 2019 elections.
Many TD leaders are making such comments in the wake of the YSRC chief Jagan Mohan Reddy meeting the PM recently. They even commented that the TD, in the local body polls prior to the 2014 elections had won a majority without an alliance with the the BJP.
