Wire & Wood Songwriters Festival Begins Friday In Alpharetta

The two-day festival, set for Oct. 6-7, will include a packed lineup of musicians in downtown Alpharetta and Avalon.

ALPHARETTA, GA -- Music lovers will be able to come together this weekend and enjoy the sounds of various artists showcasing their work as part of the Wire & Wood Alpharetta Songwriters Festival. This year's festival will be held Oct. 6-7, providing a listeners a chance to enjoy the vocals, melodies and expressive lyrics of musicians featured in this year's lineup.

Attendees will get a unique opportunity to learn the stories behind each song and may recognize some of the tunes that are played by their favorite musicians. Selected as one of the Top 20 Events in October 2015 by the Southeast Tourism Society, this year's festivities begin Friday, Oct. 6 with free concerts from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. in The Plaza at Avalon and 7 p.m. to 10 p.m. in downtown Alpharetta.

Big names such as Shawn Mullins, Matthew Sweet, Allen Stone and James McMurtry are among this year's headliners. Other performers include: Gary Nicholson, Amy LaVere, Michelle Malone, Ross Newell (of the Mulligan Brothers), AJ Ghent Band, Seth Walker, Randall Bramblett, Bill Sheffield, Robby Hecht, Tommy Talton, Alex Guthrie, Jessie Albright & Foster Blues, Jennifer Simpson, Davin McCoy, Chasing Lovely,Carly Burruss, The Mosleys and ESOEBO.

Since debuting in 2013, the festival has become a regionally recognized event, "putting Alpharetta on the map as a music destination,” said Janet Rodgers, President and CEO of the Alpharetta Convention & Visitors Bureau.

“We are very excited to bring this spectacular event to Alpharetta where nationally recognized singer-songwriters can connect with the community and share the stories behind the music," she added.”

Russell Carter Artist Management produced the festival in conjunction with the city and the Alpharetta Convention & Visitors Bureau.

“Our lineup is varied musically by intent,” said producer Russell Carter. “We have Southern rock, power pop, blues, Americana, soul, and country. What is consistent is that all of the performers are original and supremely talented songwriters.”

Tickets are $40 in advance or $45 at the gate for Saturday, Oct. 7. The festival will take place rain or shine, and children ages 12 and under will be admitted for free.
